Looking back, the past few years feel like a blur — a mix of resilience, change, and unexpected detours. The pandemic reshaped so much of my life, including the long gap before I could see my mother again after more than four years apart. Work-wise, I was deep in building large-scale, global features at Microsoft, designing and implementing parts of the cart, checkout, and Buy Now experiences that served millions daily. There was a lot of technical growth — migrating from Ember to React, squeezing out every bit of performance and reliability we could.
Outside of work, I picked up and paused hobbies. I was an active football (soccer) player before taking a two-year break, and I’ve been plotting my return to the field, this time with better stamina and smarter training. I also explored creative projects — from a dark-humor suspense script set in 2018 Chengdu, to starting a YouTube channel about option selling called “压路机前捡钢镚” (yes, the name says it all).
Somewhere in the middle of this journey, the AI wave hit. Suddenly, AI wasn’t just a side tool — it was everywhere. I’ve been using it to research, brainstorm, write, and even accelerate technical work. ChatGPT became a bit of a sparring partner: one day we’d be dissecting option strategies for MSTR and HIMS, the next we’d be talking about football tactics or optimizing a Java DFS.
AI feels like a multiplier. It doesn’t replace thinking — it expands it. It turns “I wonder…” into “Let’s try this now.” And while I’m still exploring its limits, I’m convinced this is just the start of a massive shift, one that will keep folding into both my professional and personal projects.
The future I’m planning isn’t just about one path — it’s about keeping multiple threads alive. Professionally, I want to keep building things that touch millions, but with more emphasis on shaping the how as much as the what. On the creative side, I’ll keep pushing my script forward, and grow my option-selling channel into a consistent, transparent record of real trading decisions and results.
I also want to bring football back into my weekly rhythm — this time, smarter than before. Less burnout, more longevity.
Most importantly, I want to live this next chapter as if every year counts double — because, looking back, I know they do.
If the last few years taught me anything, it’s that the world can flip overnight — plans can stall, borders can close, and the “someday” list can grow dust fast. So my future plans aren’t just goals; they’re active choices. The AI era has made it easier to create, to test, to fail fast and try again. And life? Well, it’s made me want to sprint for the ball, even when my legs are trembling, because that’s how you score.
The past is my foundation, the AI era is my leverage, and the future — that’s the part I get to write, one decisive step at a time.
